DareMe is a social dare game. This explains exactly what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how to get it deleted. Plain language, no padding.
DareMe is operated by Tommaso Villa, Italy. For anything in this policy — including a request to see or delete your data — write to daremelivethechallenge@gmail.com. A person reads it.
For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are the data controller for the information described here.
| Data | Why | Basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and password | To create and secure your account. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication — we never see or store them ourselves. | Performance of a contract |
| Username and profile picture | So friends can find you and recognise you. | Performance of a contract |
| Date of birth | Only to check you are 13 or older. We store it so the check cannot be bypassed by reinstalling. | Legal obligation |
| Groups, challenges, points, leaderboards | The game itself. | Performance of a contract |
| Proof photos, Moments, feed posts, comments, reactions | Content you choose to share with friends or a group. | Performance of a contract |
| Friends, friend requests and your blocked list | To build your feed and keep blocked accounts away from you. | Performance of a contract |
| Push notification token | To tell you when someone dares you or approves your proof. | Consent (you can turn notifications off) |
| Advertising identifier (IDFA / Android ad ID) | Personalised advertising, only if you allow it when asked. | Consent |
| Subscription and purchase status | To unlock Premium and themed packages on every device you sign in to. | Performance of a contract |
| Crash and diagnostic logs | To find and fix bugs. | Legitimate interest |
Local mode never leaves your phone. Pass-the-phone games, the players you name and the dares you write for them are stored only on that device. Nothing is uploaded, and we cannot see any of it.
The same is true of challenges you save as favourites.
DareMe shows full-screen ads to users on the free plan, served by Google AdMob. Premium subscribers see no ads at all.
On iOS, the first time the app is ready we ask — through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt — whether you allow tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies.
You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on iOS, or in Settings → Google → Ads on Android.
Google's own handling of ad data is described in the Google Privacy & Terms.
Proof photos are checked for explicit content before they are accepted. That check runs on your own device — the image is analysed locally and is not uploaded anywhere for screening.
We use a small number of providers. They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes, except where their own policies say otherwise.
| Provider | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Messaging, Hosting, Cloud Functions) | Accounts, all game data, push notifications, this website |
| Google AdMob | Advertising |
| RevenueCat | Subscription and purchase status |
| Apple / Google Play | Payment. We never receive your card details. |
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
Our Firebase project runs on Google infrastructure, and data may be processed in the United States. Transfers out of the European Economic Area rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Open Profile → Delete Account and confirm with your password. This removes your account, your profile, your dares and your posts. It cannot be undone.
Two things survive deletion, deliberately: abuse reports filed about you, so a banned user cannot wipe the record by deleting and re-registering; and content already copied by other users, such as a screenshot. Your subscription is managed by Apple or Google and must be cancelled there separately — deleting your account does not cancel it.
If you are in the EEA or the UK you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent you may withdraw it at any time.
Write to daremelivethechallenge@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you may complain to your national data protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
DareMe is for people aged 13 and over. We ask for a date of birth at sign-up and refuse to create accounts below 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to the database is restricted by server-side security rules, so one account cannot read another's private data. No system is perfect — if you find a weakness, please tell us rather than exploiting it, and we will fix it.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
Questions about any of this? daremelivethechallenge@gmail.com — we would rather explain it than have you guess.
